“This is our 19th year of hosting All-Star Saturday and every year the event continues to grow and evolve. Metropolitan Youth Foundation of Central Ohio is a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization I founded to address the needs of under-served youth in our community. Metropolitan Youth Foundation has now partnered with Walmart as title sponsor to host All-Star Saturday. With the support of Walmart and our other event sponsors, we are able to continue our community outreach components, such as, health and wellness screenings, healthy food choices, and other community-based activities, which adds a broader dimension to the event.“, said Richard Crockett, founder of All-Star Saturday and Metropolitan Youth Foundation of Central Ohio.

History of All-Star Saturday

The annual community event was started by Capital Transportation in 1998 with hopes of providing the northeast Columbus community with a full day of family focused activities and an opportunity to showcase some of the most talented basketball players in the Central Ohio area. The event has continually grown over the years and now attracts over 2,500 Central Ohio attendees annually. Future plans for All-Star Saturday include expansion of the event, addition of more community outreach activities, and further development of family-centered activities and service offerings. The Metropolitan Youth Foundation of Central Ohio is now in its 5th year of organizing and presenting All-Star Saturday. 2017 All-Star Saturday sponsors include: Walmart, Giant Eagle, Donatos Pizza, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, DaySpring CDC, Zeno’s Activewear, ColumbusBlack, Radio One, Power 107.5 FM, Boom 106.3 FM, Magic 95.5 FM, and Buckeye Prep.
