Happy weekend everyone!! It looks as though a lot of the little ones have returned to school to start a new year and I’m sure it’s been a hectic time getting them started. Well, the weekend is here so you can take some time to relax and as always I have a few events that can help you do so. Let’s see what’s going on and get started!!
Now if your student is still in need of supplies, then stop by the Freedom Reign Christian Center this Saturday from 2-5 p.m. to receive one of 150 backpacks filled with all the necessary supplies for a great year. Not only will you have a chance to receive one of these backpacks, but there will also be games, food, face painting, prayer for the new year, and much more. Eastpointe Christian Church in Blacklick will also host the Back to School Bash this Sunday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Get ready for a new school year with an event filled with food trucks, games, activities, entertainment, and other family fun.
Speaking of food trucks, the Food Truck Festival returns again this year with a new location at Bicentennial Park and the Scioto Mile. This new location will provide more space for even more trucks than before. There will be free entry with the event taking place this Friday and Saturday. Continue with your foodie adventures at the Buckeye Kosher BBQ Festival this Sunday. From 3-7 p.m. enjoy Kosher prepared BBQ and activities that include wall climbing, an obstacle course, bounce house, and more. Admission will be $2 and the bbq will be held at Pump House Park.
Make room for all of the good festival food you’ll have by participating in the Columbus Scavenger Run. The run will begin at 11 a.m. inviting participants to collect raffle tickets at a number of checkpoints for a chance to win some great prizes. Registration will cost $30-$35 and the race will begin at Wolf’s Ridge Tap Room. Visit www.outdoor-pursuits.org for more info. The childlike fun continues with Alley Islands: Play Islands taking place this Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. Relive your childhood by checking out this event being held in the Milton and Lafeyette alleys downtown. Enjoy games, treats, music, and just being a kid again.
The weekend is definitely filled with festivals for everyone to enjoy. The 21 and up crowd can stop by the Columbus Gin and Vodka Festival this Saturday at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Sample the world’s finest gin and vodka for an admission of $20-$65 which can be purchased here.
After a long week of hard work, you deserve a great night out on the town. At this point you should already know that the only place to be in a Friday is at HERE FRIDAYS at Copious. This is a week that you don’t want to miss with performances from not one, not two, but 7 vocalists for Col. 1 of the Rock the City series. The line up will include Kristen Trotter, Ella Star, Mic Smith, Valure, Ray Woods, Darren, and Britney Neal. You want to make sure you have your tickets for this one so click here to get yours today.
There’s so much to do in Columbus each and every weekend but I can’t fit it all into one Run Down. So make sure you download MYLE to have access to details of all the events this great city has to offer. I will definitely be back next week to highlight a few for you to check out so stay tuned. Until then, be safe and take care. Deuces!!
