However, Jakes’ representatives didn’t reveal what caused the health incident.
“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers,” The Potters House stated.
Pastor Frederick Haynes of Friendship-West Baptist Church expressed his support for Jakes in a statement to CBS News.
“Bishop Jakes is a once-in-a-generation gospel giant,” Frederick told the outlet. “We are praying for him, his family and for the Potter’s House.”
Video from Jakes’ latest sermon shows the pastor shaking in his seat after delivering his message, ABC News reported. Several people then rushed to Jakes to give him aid.
According to The Porter House Instagram page, Sunday’s service started at 6.m. and it was available to stream online. The stream, however, cut off as Jakes became ill.
“Tomorrow, come be a part of something special at The Potter’s House of Dallas! This is an opportunity to soak up the warmth of family, feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, and a receive a life-changing Word,” the church wrote on Instagram while promoting Sunday’s service.
Jakes, 67, founded his non-denominational church in 1996 and attracted more than 30,000 members through the years, The Potter’s House website states. The Potter’s House is among the top-ranked churches in the country and also one of the most influential, per its website.
