The hip-hop community spent over two years rallying behind Young Thug in support as the So Much Fun hitmaker waited out the results of his state RICO case behind bars. While Gunna and many others indicted under the YSL allegations took plea deals earlier on in the process, it wasn’t until Oct. 31, 2024 that Thugger (born Jeffery Lamar Williams) gained his freedom back in exchange for a guilty plea and 15 years of probation. Thankfully, the Atlanta native’s team has been able to release new music during his time away, but fans are curious to see what he’ll drop next and if/when he plans to start touring again.

Speaking of live concerts, Young Thug previously told Big Boy how not being able to perform during the COVID-19 pandemic had dramatic consequences for his bank account. “The money I get for shows, let’s say I get $500,000. If I don’t do these ten shows, that’s $5 million,” he told the radio host. “I might spend a million, two million just on this quarantine shit. Like I got my mom and daddy, all these folks, god damn. I’m like, ‘Y’all stay in the house.’ They like, ‘Yeah’. They get tired of the house every week, they want a penthouse, go to the hotel. That shit cost money and you don’t make the money off your shows. However much money I lose on a show, that’s probably the same amount of money I lose spending my money.”

It’s obvious that money has always been heavy on Williams’ mind, but after paying hefty legal fees and not touring for the past few years, people can’t help but wonder where Young Thug’s net worth lies in 2024. Keep reading to reflect on the 33-year-old’s impactful career and the roadblocks he’s faced along the way to amassing his reported multi-millions!

Thugger Caught Gucci Mane’s Attention With His ‘I Came From Nothing’ Mixtape Series

Jeffery Williams was born on Aug. 16, 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up with ten siblings in Zone 3, an infamously impoverished area that bred other Atlanta success stories like Ludacris, Waka Flocka Flame and 2 Chainz. Reports describe Thugger as an “unruly child” who spent four years in juvenile prison after breaking his teacher’s arm in the sixth grade. It seems channeling his energy into his creative pursuits was a huge help for the Southerner, who began releasing his I Came From Nothing mixtape series in 2011, leading to a deal from Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad record label.

Making that connection allowed Young Thug to start collaborating with figured at the forefront of hip-hop, including London on Da Track. The pair connected for “Lifestyle” back in 2014, helping Williams reach a more mainstream audience as the song landed in the Top 20 on the Billboard chart. Around this time, rumor has it that Future offered his fellow ATL native an $8M deal. Elsewhere, Thug started working with Birdman’s Cash Money Records for management services before eventually joining forces with 300 Entertainment.

After many mixtapes, fans made it clear they were ready for a studio album from Williams. He seemed ready to oblige with Carter 6 – a tribute to Lil Wayne – but Weezy wasn’t impressed with the idea. The Louisiana native reacted by telling his fans to stop streaming Thugger, causing tension between the two.

Collaborating With Camila Cabello Brought the Atlanta Icon His First No. 1

“Havana” by Camila Cabello and Young Thug was constantly blasting on the radio in 2017, becoming the latter’s first No. 1 hit, but certainly not his last. The next year, Williams provided background vocals on Childish Gambino’s “This Is America,” which he also co-wrote, marking another chart-topping victory. When his debut album did finally arrive in 2019, that landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 too, boasting singles like “Hot” featuring Gunna and “The London” with J. Cole and Travis Scott. Before his 2022 arrest, Thugger had one of the biggest years of his career thanks to Slime Language 2 and his Punk sophomore effort both reaching the top of the charts. Elsewhere in 2021, he joined Drake and Future on “Way 2 Sexy” from the Canadian’s Certified Lover Boy project.

What Is Young Thug’s Net Worth?

As of May 2024, Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Young Thug is valued at $4M. His contributions to the music industry are undeniable, but unfortunately, the father of six’s legal woes have held him back from reaching his highest potential. Outside of the years-long RICO case that’s just now wrapping up, Williams was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, reckless conduct, reckless driving and driving without a seat belt in 2014. The year after, he was arrested at his ATL home on drugs and weapons charges days after he and Birdman were implicated in a plot to kill Lil Wayne. In terms of real estate, Thugger has also run into trouble, facing a $2.2M lawsuit back in 2017 over alleged unpaid fees on his 11,000 square-foot home.
